You can use the cold sore patch at any stage of a cold sore.
However, it is best to apply it when the first signs of a fever appear, usually a tingling or itching sensation.
How to apply the patch
1. Wash your hands. Ensure that the skin is clean and dry. Do not use in conjunction with any cream, as the patch may not adhere to the lesion and may not provide the full benefits of the product.
2. Remove the applicator from its packaging and hold it by the ends with both hands.
3. Gently pull both ends in the direction indicated by the arrows on the applicator, until half of the adhesive side is exposed. Try not to touch the sticky side of the patch.
4. Gently press your finger down on the exposed half of the patch until it sits firmly on the sore.
5. Slowly pull the end of the applicator down away from the skin in a smooth motion until the patch comes off the applicator. Makeup or lipstick can be applied over the patch.
How to remove the patch
1. If the patch is still attached, it is not necessary to remove or change it. When it starts to peel off the skin, it should be removed and replaced with a new one.
2. To remove the patch, peel off the end.
3. Hold the detached end of the patch with both hands.
4. Stretch the patch horizontally, separating the hands as it is peeled off.
